GERMANTOWN, MD — A second teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with the Germantown basketball shooting that killed one man, 20-year-old Axel Trejos, and injured three others on the night of Aug. 18.
A 17-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for the killing at the Plum Gar Rec Center.

Some county leaders have recognized the role of gun violence in young people's lives, as well as ghost guns. Montgomery County State Attorney John McCarthy said the gun used at the Plum Gar shooting was a ghost gun, and that any gun law passed in the past few decades would be useless without getting rid of ghost guns.
"If you don't get a handle on ghost guns, you throw all of that progress out the window," McCarthy said in a video posted to Twitter.

(1/2) Last week’s fatal shooting in Germantown was senseless, and it was a #ghostgun that shattered the lives of 4 youth including #AxelTrejos. In a split second, gun violence destroys many lives and we must continue to advocate for meaningful change. @McCarthyMoCo @MoCoDHHS pic.twitter.com/5l7FPPUJDG
