Townhouse Fire Leaves Family Homeless: MoCo Fire And Rescue
The blaze caused $100,000 in damage to Damascus home, says Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

DAMASCUS, MD — A fire in a townhouse on Sunday night caused about $100,000 in damage and displaced a family of four, according to a spokesman with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. There were no injuries reported in the blaze, and the family was not home at the time, according to fire and rescue spokesman Pete Piringer.
About 60 firefighters were called to the scene on Butterfield Way, Piringer said. They were first alerted to the fire at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday, when a neighbor heard a smoke alarm in the townhouse and called 911.
The fire appeared to have started in the basement, and it has been ruled accidental, Piringer said.
