Oakwood Elementary will induct 16 students into the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) on Friday,
March 15, 2013
Oakwood Elementary has formed a chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS). Oakwood will join 3 other elementary schools in Anne Arundel county with NEHS chapters and will be the first elementary school in Glen Burnie, MD to form a chapter. According
to the NEHS website, “NEHS was established in 2008 to recognize elementary students in both public and non-public elementary schools for their academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility, to provide meaningful service to the school and community, and to develop essential leadership skills in the students of elementary school”. Oakwood Elementary is excited to acknowledge and promote the achievements of its students in this meaningful way.
Fourth Grade students that have maintained a 3.0 cumulative GPA from the second semester of 3rd grade and 1st semester of 4th grade were eligible to apply for NEHS. Eligible students were invited to apply for acceptance into the NEHS Chapter. 16 fourth grade students will be inducted on Friday, March 15th at 1:30pm. Once inducted, this group of student will elect officers to lead the honor
society. Students will conduct service projects that they choose and develop at Oakwood.
