It seems like there is one great time of the year where we collectively pull out our grilling utensils, purchase some nice burgers or hot dogs, and fire up the grill. Summer is the one time where you can enjoy your best moments with your gas or coal grills. Although these times may be fun, we must never forget the risks involved with this season. Thinking about how I too will soon be on the grill cooking a nice salmon filet or juicy burger I remembered some tips to help in providing a safe grill environment.
1. Make sure you follow the manufacturers instructions and requirements when installing your grill.
2. Never leave a grill unattended.
3. Place the grill a safe distance away from potential hazards including siding, deck railings, and play areas.
4. Don't add charcoal starter fluid when coals or kindling have already been ignited.
5. Keep children and pets away from your grill.
6. Check your propane cylinder hose for leaks before use.
7. Remove grease or fat buildup in trays below grill to prevent grease fires.
8. Use your grill outdoors only.
