🌱 Baseball Bat Beating + Road Rage + Trick No Treat + Cop Almost Hit

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Glen Burnie.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, everybody! It's me, Michele, your host of the Glen Burnie Daily. Follow along for everything you need to know about what's happening these days in town...

First, today's weather:

Cooler with rain and drizzle. High: 64 Low: 59. Oh no! What happened to summer?

Here are the top stories today in Glen Burnie:

  1. Shane McGovern has been arrested for attacking someone with a baseball bat. The attack happened on Crain Highway in Glen Burnie on Monday at approximately 12:30 a.m. He forced his way into a home, attacked a person and destroyed the house. (Daily Voice)
  2. The Treat Restaurant on Aquahart Road in Glen Burnie was robbed. On May 20 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a man entered the restaurant, showed a gun and demanded cash. No one was hurt, but the suspect has not been located. (Anne Arundel County)
  3. Because laundry isn't a pain to do anyway, a man was robbed by three masked men while doing laundry. Keys to the victim's apartment and car were taken along with cash that was on his person. The apartment was then robbed, and the car was stolen. Anyone with any information is asked to call the police. (News Break)
  4. A 22-year-old woman has been arrested and held without bail for attempted murder. She sped her car toward officers as they were trying to get control of the unruly driver. She then drove away and crashed into an occupied police officer's car. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. (News Break)
  5. The Baltimore-Washington Parkway was the scene of a road rage incident. On May 20 between 1-5 p.m. there were reports of a vehicle with the passenger pointing a gun at passersby. The driver of the black Ford Fusion is a Black female, and the passenger is a Black male. Anyone with any information is asked to call the police. (Facebook)

Today in Glen Burnie:

  • Craving ice cream? Come join the teachers of Harundale Presbyterian Pre-School at Brusters! The teachers will be there today between 5:30-8:30 p.m. for this fundraiser. (Facebook)
  • Let the artist guide you in making your very own pressed flower butterfly. The class is tonight between 6:30-9:30 p.m. All supplies are provided for $70. (MD Glass Creations)
  • The Unified Jazz Ensemble is playing the 49 West Coffee House in Annapolis. Join them between 7-9:30 p.m. tonight. Come early to get some food and stay late for the music. (Baltimore Jazz)

From my notebook:

  • A good deed was rewarded for the Anne Arundel County Public Librarians. "A couple of weeks ago a lovely gentleman stopped by the library to gift us with these doughnuts. He was so grateful that we had helped him with his unemployment, and that day he'd gotten his first check." We all need a little help sometimes, never be afraid to ask! (Facebook)
  • Today is "International Tiara Day" and "National Escargot Day." Well, if these two things don't go together, I don't know what does! Wear your tiara, drink juice out of the finest wine glass and eat escargot! (Holidays and Observations)
  • Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes. If you find yourself out of a job and nothing has come through for another job, file for unemployment. Click the link to see what is needed or go to your local library to ask for help. (Beacon)
  • Baltimore has ties to royalty! A woman named Wallis Simpson found herself in the presence of royalty during the 1930s. Edward was poised to become King of England, but love had a different idea. Edward gave up the crown to marry Ms. Simpson. (WMAR 2)
