Eat Breakfast Lose Weight

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you think you don't have time for breakfast, think again. It doesn't take as much time as you might imagine.

Eating a healthy breakfast is the perfect way to jumpstart your weight loss goals. Not eating breakfast may also cause you to eat more at your next meal – leading to higher daily calorie consumption. Studies have shown that people that skip breakfast are more likely to be obese than those who eat breakfast.

I love breakfast, and as everyone should, I eat it every day. In the morning, I go from my bed straight to the kitchen. So, because I love and realize the importance of eating a healthy breakfast, it’s generally the topic of conversation during the warm up of my training sessions.

I Don’t Have Time

One of the main reasons that I hear for people not eating breakfast is the same as the reason for not exercising. “I don’t have time”. Well just like exercise (another component of a healthy lifestyle), you’re not going to find the time. You have to make the time. While, I would love to sit down to a hearty home cooked breakfast everyday, most mornings don’t allow for that. For me, that’s a treat reserved for Sunday morning.

What Do I Eat?

The number two reason I hear is: “I don’t know what to eat for breakfast”. So, I have listed a few suggestions that will help you with both problems and get your days started properly. Most of these will take you less than 10 minutes.

  • Roll up a whole-wheat tortilla filled with scrambled egg beaters and salsa. Toss in your favorite precut veggies (try onions, peppers, spinach or mushrooms).
  • Shakeology meal replacement shake with 1Tbsp peanut butter, and 1 banana
  • Blend a 1/2 cup each of plain low-fat yogurt and orange juice with half a frozen banana and a few frozen strawberries
  • Add fresh fruit or cereal (like Raisin Bran or low-fat granola) to plain low- or non-fat yogurt
  • Spread a tablespoon of peanut butter on a slice of whole-wheat bread and spread another tablespoon on an apple.
  • Warm a whole-wheat waffle. Top with low- or non-fat yogurt and sliced fresh fruit.
  • 2 slices whole wheat toast with 1 Tbsp. peanut butter  ½ cup strawberries
