Construction Project Phases Wrap at Two Area Schools
Glen Burnie High and Woodside Elementary phases finished before beginning of school.
Infrastructure at two Glen Burnie schools will be improved with new lights, heating and air conditioning units and auditorium seating, thanks to multi-phase construction projects that were partially completed this summer.
The schools will instead of Aug. 23 like other schools in the county.
on Monday completed the second phase of a three-year project to install new air conditioning in the gymnasium and renovate existing air conditioning units, as well as improve the seating and flooring in the auditorium, principal Vickie Plitt said.

While Plitt said she didn’t know the age of the auditorium, renovating the wooden seats was overdue.
“It was fairly old and didn’t work properly,” she said of the auditorium.

The final phase of the project is scheduled to begin next summer.
similarly is getting improved lighting and renovations to the ceiling, schools spokesman Bob Mosier wrote in an email.
“The project involves removing asbestos floor and ceiling tiles, replacing the floor and ceiling tiles, and installing new light fixtures throughout the school,” he wrote.
The first of the three phases was completed this summer.
“There is no work currently being done, as it has to be performed when there are no students or teachers in the building,” Mosier wrote.
