BWMC Hosts Chronic Conditions Workshop

Baltimore Washington Medical Center is partnering with the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities to offer a free six-week workshop on Tuesdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. from January 15 through February 19 at BW Health Services, 7556 Teague Road, Suite 440 in Hanover. “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” is a self-management program for adults with chronic conditions which include diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, obesity, chronic pain or anxiety and heart disease.


            “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” is an evidence-based program developed by Stanford University and Northern California Kaiser Permanente. Outcomes include decreased disability and fatigue, increased energy, lower health distress, increased exercise and relaxation and fewer social role limitations. Participants will learn techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation. Appropriate exercise and medications, communication with family and health professionals, nutrition and evaluation of new treatments will also be discussed.
