Baltimore Washington Medical Center is partnering with the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities to offer a free six-week workshop on Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. from April 11 through May 16 at 301 Hospital Drive in Glen Burnie, in the Radiology Conference Room on the lower level of the medical center. “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” is a self-management program for adults with chronic conditions which include diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, obesity, chronic pain or anxiety and heart disease.
“Living Well with Chronic Conditions” is an evidence-based program developed by Stanford University and Northern California Kaiser Permanente. Outcomes include decreased disability and fatigue, increased energy, lower health distress, increased exercise and relaxation and fewer social role limitations. Participants will learn techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation. Appropriate exercise and medications, communication with family and health professionals, nutrition and evaluation of new treatments will also be discussed.
Adults of all ages with chronic conditions, as well as caregivers, are eligible to participate in this free workshop. To register, please call 410-222-4366 or visit aacounty.org/aging.
