June Jam Skate Competition

Fathers get ready to spend a few hours with your sons and daughters at the Bowie Skate Park on Father's Day as the City will host the JUNE JAM SKATE COMPETITION at the Bowie Skate Park on Sunday, June 16 from 9am - 6pm.

The competition will offer three skill level divisions that will compete for the top spots in a "jam format" competition.  Registration will be on-site at the Bowie Skate Park (Allen Pond Park, 3330 Northview Drive, Bowie, MD) on June 16 and will be staggered throughout the day by skill level (Beginner 8am-9am; Intermediate 10am-11am; Advanced 12pm-1pm).  Please be certain to register yourself in the proper skill level.  There will be a judge at the registration table that can help you determine which division you should be in.  The judges have the authority to decide whether or not a rider is competing in the correct division and can move that rider into the proper division if they feel that a rider is entered at the wrong skill level.

Registration will be limited to the first 30 skaters for the Beginner & Intermediate Divisions and the entry fee will be $10.  Registrants for the Advanced Division will be regulated by the total number of entries in previous skill levels coupled with time remaining in the event and the entry fee will be $20.  Registration fees will only be accepted in cash (checks or credit card payments will not be accepted).  Competitors will be judged on several criteria: Comfort on the board; Determination; Skill level of tricks performed; Number of tricks landed; and Number of tricks attempted.  All Skaters will be required to wear a helmet while skating and skating is at your own risk.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three skaters in the Beginner and Intermediate Divisions and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three skaters in the Advanced Division.  All remaining funds, as well as food donations, will be provided to the Bowie Food Pantry.  General public skating at the park will be limited this day.  If you plan to attend the event as a spectator, please bring canned or boxed food donations for the pantry.  Spectator seating is limited, so plan to bring a lawn chair!  For additional information visit www.cityofbowie.org (search word- Skate Park).
