Edith Harrison, district manager, Glen Burnie office of the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services, will give a presentation during the Kinship Caregiver Support Group meeting. She will discuss family investment benefits, such as temporary cash assistance, medical assistance, food supplemental benefits and emergency assistance to families with children. The meetings are free and are for those who are providing Kinship Care.
Kinship Care is the full-time care, nurturing and protection of children by relatives or other adults who have a family relationship to the child.
Attendees are encouraged to ask questions about raising a relative’s child, such as financial concerns and guidance about county services.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services has also established a Kinship Navigator program to help family members access information and obtain a resource manual. The program is a joint effort of the Department of Social Services, the Department of Aging and Disabilities, the Department of Recreation and Parks and the Board of Education.
