Got Crabs? World's Largest Crab Feast Set for Annapolis
Tickets are on sale for tonight's crab feast at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Crabs, sweet corn and more will be served rain or shine.

More than 2,000 people are expected Friday night at the world’s largest crab feast planned for Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
The 69th annual event is organized by the Rotary Club of Annapolis and starts at 5 p.m. today, Aug. 1.
Thirty-thousand steamed crabs, more than 3,000 ears of Maryland corn, 100 gallons of crab soup, 1,800 hot dogs, 150 pounds of beef barbeque, and hundreds of gallons of soft drinks and beer will be served, all to raise money for area charities.

The event will be held rain or shine, as most of the tables are protected from the weather.
“It’s just a great time for fellowship in the Annapolis community,” David Lillefloren, Rotary crab feast chairman, told WJZ TV.

“People have a great time. Come rain or shine, we’ll be out there serving crabs. We’re going to have all the crabs you can eat, all the refreshments you can drink. We’ll have over 2000 happy customers,” Jim Campbell, assistant chair of Rotary crab feast, told the TV station.
Proceeds from the crab feast benefit charities in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. Last year, more than $71,000 went to 38 non-profit organizations, according to the Rotary Club.
“Since the beginning of our crab feast we’ve raised over $1 million. All the proceeds go back to the community,” Lillefloren said.
Annapolis Green, a local environmental group, is working with the Rotary Club to compost all the crabs and other food, utensils, and beverages at the event. The two groups want to make this charitable fundraiser a zero waste event.
