Man Robbed After Buying Shoes From A Stranger: Police

The man selling the shoes and the man who robbed the buyer likely were working together, according to a police report.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Residents are reminded that the Anne Arundel County Police Department offers "transaction safe places" for them to buy and sell goods at any of the district locations and headquarters. Individuals can use the front parking lot or lobby.

Recently, police officers were called to the parking lot of 7800 Park West Drive in Glen Burnie for a citizen robbery. The victim had met with a man from whom he intended to buy shoes. The two had connected via an online post. The seller contacted the man shortly before they were to meet and changed the meeting location to the 500 block of Glen Court, according to a police report.

After receiving the shoes and submitting payment electronically, the man began walking away with the shoes. Another man approached the buyer with a gun and demanded he give him the shoes. Both the seller and the other man took off together, police noted. Officers canvassed the area for suspects and witnesses, but couldn't find anyone. Western District detectives ask that anyone with information call 410-222-6155 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
