North County Football Holds Off Annapolis, 18-7 (Video)
The homestanding Knights used big plays and an opportunistic defense to stop the Panthers.
Using big plays to take control of the game, football upended , 18-7, at William Wentworth Stadium.
With only 1:42 remaining in the first half, the Knights broke a scoreless tie on a 25-yard Tavon Spears touchdown run and then, only 80 seconds later, followed that with an interception return for another touchdown by Lorenzo Maddox to go up 12-0 at halftime.
"We were in the right place at the right time," said North County Head Coach Gary Liddick.

A loss of focus hurt the Knights as Annapolis recovered an onside kick to start the second half.
"They were relaxed," Liddick said.

North County found itself in deeper trouble with 7:40 left in the third quarter as a botched punt snap gave the Panthers the ball inside the Knights' five yard line. North County's defense rose to the occassion, however, recovering an Annapolis fumble on the next play.
Early in the fourth quarter, Annapolis scored its only touchdown on a 65-yard run, but the Knights put the game away on a Pat Hyde score with just over two minutes left in the game.
"[] the kids responded real well," said Liddick. "We needed this win to get our heads back on straight. I'm real proud of the kids."
