North County Football Tops Glen Burnie, 13-6 (Video)

The visiting Knights hold off a furious fourth-quarter charge by the Gophers to win this local contest.

scored 13 unanswered points and then stopped a last-minute drive by homestanding to scratch out a win, 13-6.

The Gophers' Jake Hill caught a long pass from quarterback Andrew Santos to set up a two-yard touchdown run by Brandon Walker to take an early 6-0 lead.

Later in the first quarter, the Knights' Tavon Spears raced down the sideline to the Glen Burnie two-yard line, and then followed it up a play later with a touchdown run to tie the game at 6-6.

North County's touchdown and extra point early in the second quarter were to be the game's final points, but the excitement was far from over as both teams traded fumbles and the Gophers' Woodrow Freeman blocked a North County punt with just 1:27 remaining in the game.

The Knights' defense rose to the occasion, however, and Glen Burnie was unable to convert its advantage as North County held on for the win.

"I'm proud of our players," Glen Burnie Head Coach Nick Good-Malloy said. "They never gave up.

"We're moving in the right direction," said Good-Malloy. "You have to give North County a lot of credit, they're working hard, just like we are."
