🌱 Passing of Traffic Jam Jimmy + Riviera Beach Accident Kills 2

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Glen Burnie.

(Patch Media)

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Michele, your host of the Glen Burnie Daily.

First, today's weather:

Warmer with periods of sun. High: 63 Low: 50.

Here are the top stories in Glen Burnie today:

  1. The morning commute will never be the same again. Sadly, "Traffic Jam Jimmy" James Uhrin has passed away. Jimmy has worked for Fox 45 since 1976 in a variety of rolls, including voicing Mondy the sea monster on the Captain Chesapeake Show. He will be greatly missed. (WBFF 45)
  2. Anne Arundel County Public Schools will be offering classes to 3-year-olds. Seven classes will be offered this coming 2022-2023 school year. Click on the link to find the online enrollment form. (Eye On Annapolis)
  3. Former Raven, Earl Thomas has a warrant out for his arrest. Seems he has violated a court order and has been messaging a woman and children. The text messages were threatening and demanding in nature. (WMAR 2)
  4. Sadly, two people were killed in an auto accident in the Riviera Beach community. The crash occurred Sunday, May 1 at around 3:15 a.m. a 19-year-old died that day and a 21-year-old died Monday. The roads were closed for close to two hours. (Palm Beach Post)

Today in Glen Burnie:

  • Ferndale Day is May 15. The parade will start from North County H.S. at 11 a.m. walking down Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard and ending up at the 3rd Ave Field. The 3rd Avenue field will have food, music, craft vendors and item's for sale. Come join the fun. (Facebook)
  • Family Fun Fest is May 15 from 1 - 4 p.m. This is a free event and all are welcome. Come see demonstrations, play games and have free give aways. (Facebook)

From my notebook:

  • Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day are just around the corner. How much knowledge do you have about the United States Flag? I suspect most people know that the flag should never touch the ground, but there is more to know. Click to find out. (Military)
  • More fun facts about our beloved flag. It is well known that the 50 stars equals 50 states and 13 stripes means the original 13 colonies. But, what do the colors mean? Click to find out.(Gettysburg Flag)
  • The American Flag has been referred to by a variety of nicknames. Some of them are "Stars and Stripes" and "Old Glory". Check out the page to see the other names and the meanings behind them. (Patriot Home and Yard)
