Glen Burnie Bank Bomb Threat Suspect Arrested
Anne Arundel County Police have arrested an Essex man who entered BB&T Bank in Glen Burnie and reportedly said a bomb was inside a backpack.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A man is in custody on charges including making a bomb threat after he reportedly walked into a BB&T Bank in Glen Burnie and claimed he had a bomb in his backpack. Anne Arundel County Police say no injuries were reported among the employees and customers who were in the bank during a brief standoff Friday afternoon.
Zachariah Thomas Young, 37, of the 1100 block of Tace Drive in Essex was charged with threats of mass violence, threats of a bomb and disorderly conduct.
About 4:30 p.m. police received several 911 calls reporting a man was in the BB&T Bank, 7381 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Ferndale, claiming he had a bomb. Officers looking through the windows could see the suspect pacing back and forth. A short time later, officers were able to coax Young out of the bank and took him into custody without incident.

Once the building was unoccupied, a bomb squad entered and no explosive device was found. Detectives are still conducting interviews; additional charges may be added later, police said.
