Take Pride: Woody Harvey of Royal Farms

If you walk into the Ferndale Royal Farms in mid-morning on most weekdays, you likely have noticed a hard-working man named Woody.

Woody Harvey is part of Opportunity Builders Inc. (OBI), which is an organization that provides vocational training and employment services for adults with developmental disabilities. They provide his transportation to and from work.

The Severn resident has been working at Royal Farms for three years doing more than just cleaning up. You may see him preparing the coffee bar or emptying and refilling the trash cans. He does whatever is needed of him and does it with pride.

“Woody is a hard worker and makes us laugh,” said Assistant Manager Adela Patton.

One customer said Woody is like the store’s mascot.

“Customers just love Woody,” said Manager Beverly Wallace. "He has never called out of work unless, of course, they couldn’t provide his transportation."

Courtney Wallace, Beverly Wallace's daughter, said she adores Woody and stops by just to see him; and Woody enjoys the ladies, too.

If you need something in that store while Woody is working 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Thursday, he will be at your service.
