Police ID Teen Killed Crossing Route 100 In Glen Burnie

After a group of teens tried to cross Route 100 on Christmas night in Glen Burnie, police said one died and another was injured.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — One teen was killed and another was injured on MD 100 on Christmas night, according to police. The pedestrians were crossing the highway with a small group of youths at the time from Hospital Drive, officials reported.

Police responded to Route 100 east in the area of Oakwood Road around 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 25, for a report of a pedestrian-involved crash.

Stephen Christopher Carlise, 17, of the 400 block of Kenilworth Court, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to authorities.

A 15-year-old girl from the 200 block of Woodhill Drive in Glen Burnie was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with a serious injury to the lower body, officials reported.

Police said the vehicle that hit the teens stayed at the scene, and there were no signs of speeding or impairment. Lucille Langlois, 30, of Glen Burnie, was driving the 2008 Volkswagen, according to authorities.

Pedestrian error appeared to be the cause of the crash, authorities reported, since the teens were unlawfully crossing a controlled access highway.

Route 100 was closed in the area of Oakwood Road until about 11:15 p.m., transportation officials reported.
