The insulation of a water heater caught fire early Wednesday at the Hess Oil refinery in Brooklyn Park, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. At approximately 1:30 a.m., firefighters responded to the refinery on the 6200 block of Pennington Ave. It took 90 minutes to gain control of the fire. No injuries were reported. The water heater that caught fire is 16 feet high by 30 feet long, and is used to warm a fuel tank carrying 1 million gallons of oil, according to AACFD spokesperson Cliff Kooser.
