Greenbelt Volunteers Recognized for Outstanding Service at 104th PGCVFRA & Ladies Auxiliary Convention

Three members of the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad Inc. & Ladies Auxiliary were honored for their service and dedication during the 104th PGCVFRA & Ladies Auxiliary Convention. At the convention on September 15, 2026, two members of the Ladies Auxiliary were inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their longstanding commitment and contributions to the Auxiliary, the Fire Department, and the community. Representing the department, Frefighter/EMS Lisa Ray received the Volunteer EMS Captain George H. Linnell Award for Excellence in EMS, honoring her dedication, leadership, and sustained service to both the Fire Department and the Greenbelt community. Together, these honors recognize the vital role volunteers play in supporting emergency services, strengthening community partnerships, and carrying forward a tradition of public service.

Kathryn Reynolds has been a steadfast member of the Greenbelt Auxiliary since 1974, marking more than five decades of continuous service to the organization, the Fire Department, and the wider community. During her remarkable tenure, Mrs. Reynolds has become a respected example of dedication, leadership, and institutional commitment. Her years of service reflect not only her loyalty to the Auxiliary’s mission, but also her enduring investment in the people and traditions that have sustained it across generations.

Mrs. Reynolds currently serves as vice president of the Auxiliary and, over the course of her membership, has held nearly every elected office within the organization. Colleagues know her leadership for its reliability, compassion, and strong sense of responsibility. As chair of the Sunshine Committee, she provides encouragement and support to members during times of illness, loss, or other personal need, helping reinforce the close bonds at the heart of the Auxiliary. She also chairs the Indoor Yard Sales, one of the organization’s key fundraising efforts. Through these varied responsibilities, Mrs.Reynolds continues to strengthen the Auxiliary’s operations, support its members, and help sustain its service to the Greenbelt community.

Linda “Lynn” Dobbin has been a dedicated and active member of the Greenbelt Auxiliary for 10 years, contributing her time, talents, and steadfast commitment to the organization’s continued success. Throughout her years of service, she has distinguished herself through her reliability, leadership, and deep devotion to the missions of both the Auxiliary and the Fire Department. Before joining Greenbelt, Mrs. Dobbin was a member of the Glen Dale Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, where she also supported the organization’s service and traditions.

Mrs. Dobbin currently serves as historian for the Greenbelt Auxiliary, carefully preserving the organization’s legacy and documenting the accomplishments of its members. Her appreciation for the history of the Auxiliary and Fire Department is reflected in her dedicated service as historian for both Greenbelt and Glen Dale. In this role, she has safeguarded photographs, records, milestones, and memories that chronicle each organization’s service, traditions, and enduring connection to the community. Mrs. Dobbin has also created exceptionally detailed and thoughtfully organized history books for the stations, including materials prepared for submission at the state level. Her keen eye for detail, pride in presentation, and commitment to accuracy have resulted in collections that do more than record the past: they honor the members, events, and achievements that have shaped the auxiliaries and fire departments across generations. Through this work, Mrs. Dobbin helps ensure that their stories of service are preserved for current members and those who will follow.

Lisa Ray’s service as a Firefighter/EMS with the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad Inc. extends across leadership, public safety, education, and community engagement. She currently serves as chairman and contributes to the department’s retention and recruitment, fire prevention, and community outreach efforts, while also serving on the Board of Trustees and holding numerous other responsibilities. Beyond the department, Mrs. Ray is an instructor at the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI) and serves as a volunteer fire commissioner on the Prince George’s County Fire Commission. She has organized many of the community events at which the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department participates and works closely with the Greenbelt Police Department and other local organizations to help ensure residents are safe, informed, and connected to essential public safety resources. Through her broad range of roles, Mrs. Ray has demonstrated a sustained commitment to strengthening the department, supporting fellow volunteers, and building trusted partnerships throughout the Greenbelt community.
