Bill Martin Selected to Second Term as Havre de Grace City Council President
Martin was unanimously approved by his peers.

Sitting Havre de Grace City Council President Bill Martin was unanimously selected to serve a second term as the leader of the six-member council.
After a brief deliberation, Martin was ratified by the other members of City Council near the end of at .
Council presidents are chosen each year—traditionally the highest vote-getter from the most recent election serves in that capacity. Last year, that was Martin. This year, Councilman Randy Craig—who served as council president from May 2009-May 2010—was the leading vote-getter.

Martin's selection was a nod to the steps the council has taken in the past year.
"You are a strong leader and you are very deserving of that position," Mayor Wayne Dougherty said.

While other council members showered Martin with praise, he directed accolades at the collective whole.
"It's a good group of people up here, and I'm very, very honored, extremely honored that my fellow council members gave me the nod for a second year," Martin said. "I know we've accomplished a lot of things, but that's in the rearview mirror now."
Martin has ambitious goals for the upcoming year, including the comprehensive zoning plan and the introduction of speed cameras.
After roughly 30 minutes of deliberation in a closed session, the council re-emerged to introduce Martin. He was nominated by Craig and unanimously approved by a vote.
