$30K In Damage From Churchville Warehouse Blaze: Fire Marshal

A building fire in Churchville was caused by a situation inside a storage warehouse, officials said.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A warehouse fire in Churchville has been ruled accidental. The blaze broke out Thursday night at a Dixie Construction site, drawing more than two dozen firefighters and causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Crews were dispatched to the 200 block of Hopewell Road at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, where an employee had found a storage garage ablaze, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Members of the Level Volunteer Fire Company and Susquehanna Hose Company were among the 25 firefighters who responded, officials said, bringing the blaze under control within 10 minutes. Investigators said the fire was contained to one corner of the garage.

The fire marshal ruled the fire accidental, caused by combustibles that were ignited by coming into contact with the hot water power washer exhaust.

As a result of the fire, officials said there was an estimated $20,000 in structural damage, while $10,000 worth of items were lost as well.

PREVIOUS REPORT — A building fire has been reported Thursday in Harford County. Smoke was showing from a garage, according to authorities.

Crews were dispatched to the fire in the 200 block of Hopewell Road before 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21.

The Susquehanna Hose Company reported that it had multiple engines at the scene.
