In Burning Car Rescue, Two Saved by 'Quick Thinking': Level Fire Company President
Two people who heard a crash and rushed to the rescue on MD 136 at MD 22 helped save two victims inside, officials said.

CHURCHVILLE, MD — A firefighter and her friend pulled two people from a burning vehicle over the weekend, according to the Level Volunteer Fire Company.
Firefighters/EMT Rachel Itzoe was walking into her home when she heard a crash nearby at MD 136 at MD 22 on Saturday just before midnight, the fire company reported.
She and friend Greg Frost, who is a former Marine and Eagle Scout, ran the 300 feet to the crash, where they pried open the doors of a burning vehicle and pulled two critically injured individuals out from inside.

Within minutes, firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze. Officials said Level and Aberdeen first responders took the victims Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
"If it were not for the quick thinking and selfless response to get the patients out of the car, the outcome may not have turned out as well," Level Volunteer Fire Company President Sandra Gallion said in a statement.
Maryland State Police is investigating the crash.
