Campers can code the VEX 123 robot using touch to control movements and sounds. They learn sequences, logic and problem solving. Campers progress to using coding Cards and the VEX Coder to control the 123 robot. They learn real programming away from tablets and computers. Campers will use VEXcode with Drag &amp; Drop blocks to code the 123 robot.
Why all children must learn to code:
Across the world, the conversion of information into a digital format – also called “digitalization” – has increased productivity in the public and private sectors. As a result, virtually every country in the world is working towards a digital economy.
As this new economy evolves, special skills like computer programming are needed. This is like a language of numbers, known as code, which allows people to write instructions that are executed by computers. The goal is to create something: from a web page, to an image, to a piece of software!
Aside from giving them a head start for the future of work, compared to other forms of numeric sciences, learning code can enhance children’s creativity.

Join us as we teach campers how to use their creativity and writing skills to craft characters worthy of taking on the demogorgon. Delve into the world of Hawkins as we learn the art of collaborative storytelling to save the townspeople, and engage your reasoning skills to tackle tough problems.

STAR Summer Camp: Stranger Things Strategic Gaming Camp (Grades 5-8)

Join myself and Lisa B for our THIRD “Learn to Crochet” and make your very own shawl!
Ticket includes both Aug 4th &amp; 11th dates, where you will receive instruction from the 2 of us in how to do basic crochet stitches and how to work those stitches up to make your snood! (Basic knowledge of chaining, single and/or double crochet are a plus!)
Each participant will be able to “shop” our yarn selection to choose the color(s) of their choice, as well as receive their very own crochet hook (gauged for this project), and stitch markers to keep.
Participants are encouraged to work on their project at home in between days if they would like, and we will be available for questions even outside of the workshops times!
**Light refreshments will be available, but feel free to bring your own drink &amp; snack if you want!
Due to limited seating and prep work for the class, no refunds will be issued on tickets.
**Only 6 tickets will be available to allow everyone the attention they need!
