Carbon Monoxide Incident Leads to Citations for Property Owner

Three citations were issued by Havre de Grace officials following August incident.

Havre de Grace code enforcement officials served a property owner with three citations after its apartment building was found to have a generator running indoors last week.

The incident, in the 500 block of Franklin Street, sent the only tennant in the building to with what Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps Chief Jeremy Mothershed caled “mild to moderate (carbon monoxide) levels.”

Havre de Grace spokesman John Van Gilder said Tuesday the property owner—Fender Enterprises LLC, according to Maryland land records—was served three citations. One for operating a generator in a dwelling, one for the lack of a working smoke detector, and one for the lack of a working carbon monoxide detector.

The fines would total approximately $500, Van Gilder said.
