City Council Will Discuss Green Initiatives, Seafood Festival

The Havre de Grace City Council will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Bonnie Johnson, manager of public affairs for Constellation Energy, and Meghan Simmons, manager of economic development for Havre de Grace, will make presentations.

Seven reappointments will be made to the economic development advisory board: Will Nori, Bridgette Johnson, Charles Vasilakis, Pamela Ruff, Chip Paradis, Cathy Vincenti and Kelly Falkenstine.

Garrett Lyttle is slated to be reappointed to the RAD loan committee.

Two resolutions are on the agenda.

The first deals with funding for various community and beautification projects in the city:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF HAVRE DE GRACE, MARYLAND IN SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION TO THE MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOR THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION AND RECEIPT OF FINANCING FOR COMMUNITY LEGACY PROJECTS IN THE CITY OF HAVRE DE GRACE, MARYLAND. THIS RESOLUTION SUPPORTS THE REQUEST FOR THE BEAUTIFICATION OF MD155/HATEM BRIDGE GATEWAY, PHASE II OF THE EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE WATER TREATMENT PLANT, HAVRE DE GRACE MAIN STREET, INC. TENANT FIT-OUT PROGRAM. ALL PROJECTS ARE TO BE FINANCED EITHER DIRECTLY BY THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND OR THROUGH OTHER DEPARTMENTS OR AGENCIES OF THE SATE OF MARYLAND.

Councilwoman will present a resolution to support the city's inclusion in a sustainable municipal certification program:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL PURSUANT TO ARTICLE 23A OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND AND CHARTER SECTION 34 OF THE HAVRE DE GRACE CITY CHARTER INDICATING SUPPORT FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE SUSTAINABLE MARYLAND MUNICIPAL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM.

The lone special event on the agenda is the 32nd Annual Seafood Festival, which is scheduled for Aug. 10-12, 2012.

Six items will be presented as recommendations from the planning committee.
