City of Havre de Grace Announces Fall Cleanup Days

Residents can drop off everything from appliances to mattresses; see the list of what's accepted.

To help citizens get rid of their unwanted possessions, the city of Havre de Grace is sponsoring three fall cleanup days for 2014.

All cleanup days will be held at the Havre de Grace Community Center at 100 Lagaret Lane:

  • 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20
  • 8 a.m.– 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27
  • 8 a.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. Paper shredding this day only from 8 a.m. to noon.

Citizens must show proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, upon arrival. The cleanup days are not for private haulers or commercial businesses.

Acceptable items include batteries, clothing, furniture, appliances, tires (off-rim), mattresses, grills and empty latex paint cans.

Unacceptable items include hazardous waste products like oil-based paints, cleaning products, pool chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, mercury thermometers.

The Harford Waste Disposal Center, which takes some of these hazardous items, is at Scarboro Landfill, 3421 Scarboro Road; call 410–638-3417 for more information.
