Clark Turner Has Filed for Bankruptcy

Company owned by Havre de Grace alumnus has filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy, according to report.

A major developer in Harford County filed for bankruptcy.

Clark Turner Homes has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, according to the Baltimore Business Journal, which reported the developer has assets and liabilities between $1 million and $10 million.

Creditors from drywall to flooring companies have been filing claims against Clark Turner in civil court for the past several months attempting to collect debts, and the Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing puts a stay on those proceedings.

In addition to private companies, Clark Turner’s creditors include government entities—the cities of Havre de Grace and Aberdeen plus Harford and Cecil counties among them—according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

Owner Clark Turner is a 1971 graduate of Havre de Grace High School. He is known for developments such as the Residences at Bulle Rock in Havre de Grace and Water’s Edge in Belcamp, where the Clark Turner offices are headquartered. The company has also built luxury residences in Baltimore County.

One of the company’s developments, Charlestown Crossing in Cecil County, stalled for six years after the anticipated demand due to BRAC (base realignment and closing) at Aberdeen Proving Ground did not materialize as the housing market collapsed, according to the Cecil Whig, which reported Clark Turner received approval this summer to build high-density apartments there in addition to single-family homes to meet the changing market.
