Cops On Roof In Havre de Grace: Video
The Havre de Grace Police Department has personnel stationed at the Dunkin' Donuts Saturday, including on the roof, for a good cause.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Watch out for cops on your local Dunkin' Donuts rooftop this Saturday. Officers are perched atop the business in Havre de Grace to raise money for the Special Olympics.
"We are on the roof...!" the Havre de Grace Police Department reported Saturday morning.
Officers will be up there from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday for those who want to check it out and make a donation to the Special Olympics.

Cops on the Rooftops is a national campaign where police take to the rooftops across the U.S. at Dunkin' Donuts locations to raise money for the Special Olympics.
The Havre de Grace Police Department also participates in the Torch Run, which supports the cause. About 1,500 law enforcement officers ran in the 21 legs of the torch run this year for the Special Olympics Maryland, including dozens who took off from the Lock House in Havre de Grace through Harford County.

Law enforcement officers have been the biggest fundraising group nationwide for the Special Olympics since the first torch run began in the 1980s. The initiative helps law enforcement officers to be "champions of acceptance and inclusion," according to the Special Olympics, which uses the power of sports to help those with intellectual disabilities discover their strengths and abilities.
As Havre de Grace police officers were collecting donations for the Special Olympics Maryland Saturday at the Dunkin' Donuts off Route 40, members of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police stopped by to support their colleagues.

Nearby, the Subway in the Harbor Shops shopping plaza behind the Dunkin' Donuts is donating 10 percent of its sales on Saturday to the cause.
The Cops on the Rooftops event in Havre de Grace happens to coincide with National Coffee Day, which for those at Dunkin' Donuts means they can get buy a hot coffee and get one cup of equal or lower price free.
Cops on the Rooftops is being held at the Dunkin' Donuts off Route 40, at 1037 Pulaski Highway in Havre de Grace on Saturday, Sept. 29. Police said they anticipate being on the roof until 9 p.m.
