Ecologically Sound Landscapes Lecture Series

Lecture at the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum features former State Highway Administration contractor.

Jodie Shivery is the Principal of Ecologically Sound Landscapes, specializing in mid-Atlantic native planting design, consultation and vegetation management services.

Before the formation of Ecologically Sound Landscapes in 2008, Jodie enjoyed her time as a consultant Environmental Analyst/Landscape Designer to the Maryland State Highway Administration’s Office of Environmental Design (SHA). During her time at SHA, Jodie initiated projects to reduce mowing, increase native plant buffer zones, and designed and implemented bio-retention and Critical Area projects. She also savors the years she devoted to the SHA state wide vegetation team and conducting annual vegetation management training. Jodie graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agriculture with emphasis in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, and from Morgan State University with a Masters of Landscape Architecture. Jodie’s Master’s thesis, A Model for Vegetation Management along Maryland Roadways was instrumental in encouraging SHA to remove over 1000 acres from the traditional mowing regime.
