Garrett Island cleanup on Earth Day

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway are looking for volunteers to help clean up the shorelines of Garrett Island on Earth Day, April 21st, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00pm.   Private boat owners are welcome to assist with the cleanup.

Volunteers should meet at the Perryville, MD Boat Launch at 8:30 am.  The launch is located on N. Roundhouse Dr.
Perryville ,MD 21903.  This event will occur rain or shine.

This cleanup is part of the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway’s 12th annual River Sweep.  To help with the Garrett Island portion of the cleanup, please sign up at http://www.hitourtrails.com/Riversweep.html and choose the “Perryville-Boat Launch” location.

Garrett Island is administered by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service as part of the Chesapeake Marshlands National Wildlife Refuge Complex.  The island is located near the mouth of the Susquehanna River, in Cecil County, MD.
