New Name For Laurrapin Grille As New Year Begins

The restaurant formerly known as the Laurrapin Grille has a new name: LAGOM.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — With the new year comes a new name for the restaurant formerly known as the Laurrapin Grille. The restaurant on North Washington Street changed hands in 2017 and as a new chapter begins for the restaurant in 2018, its name is changing.

The new name is LAGOM.

"...it means to be happy with just enough, and that fits us perfectly," according to the restaurant owners.

"We strive to make sure that our food is the best quality we can find, the most local in the area and made with just enough love and spices to taste just right," LAGOM says on its website.

The new owners are both familiar faces around the business.

Executive chef Kristina Sciarra is the president of the business and Janice Rogers is vice president. They purchased the restaurant last year after years of working at Laurrapin.

Founders Bruce and Sherifa Clarke are continuing to run Laurrapin Caters.

The name change to LAGOM serves to distinguish the two and also to help solidify the identity of the business under its new owners.

"We are so excited to keep seeing the many friendly faces that have showed their continuous support as well as new faces as we grow," LAGOM's new owners said on their Facebook page.

There will be a grand reopening party to usher in the name change to LAGOM restaurant from 4-11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20. There will be menu surprises, live music, new shirts and more in store, according to the new owners.

LAGOM is at 209 North Washington Street. Hours are 4-10 p.m. Monday to Thursday; 4 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday; 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Saturday; and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.
