Habitat Houses Under Construction On Revolution Street
Volunteers from Lowe's are helping with the latest Habitat for Humanity houses in Havre de Grace.
From Habitat for Humanity:Earlier this month, Lowe’s employees from three different stores – White Marsh, Timonium and Bel Air – put the first nails in a future Habitat house planned for Revolution Street in Havre de Grace. The volunteers participated in a panel build where the walls of the Habitat house were built. Construction on the house will begin in November on a lot set aside for seven houses total. During the panel build, the Lowe’s stores also gave Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna a donation of materials that equated to approximately $15K for use on future builds.
In addition, Lowe’s donated 100 pallets of items to the Aberdeen ReStore for sale to the public. The Aberdeen ReStore, a part of Habitat Susquehanna, is a home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds from its ReStore sales go back into supporting Habitat Susquehanna’s mission to provide homeownership opportunities to low-income families in Harford and Cecil counties.
“We’re so excited about this most recent Lowe’s donation,” said Aberdeen ReStore Manager Cara Middendorf. “The fun thing about donations we receive from various sources is that we get such a great variety of items, and each week you can find something new. The same holds true for this Lowe’s donation – so far they’ve delivered insulation, generators, doors, grills, garden supplies, roofing supplies, fencing, railing kits, appliances, and building materials. Our shoppers are very excited about the diverse merchandise that we’ve received and can’t wait to see what we get next!”
The Aberdeen ReStore is open to the public Tuesdays (9 AM – 4 PM), Wednesdays to Fridays (10 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays (9 AM – 4 PM) and is located at 1013 Beards Hill Road. If you would like to donate to the Aberdeen ReStore, visit our website at www.habitatsusq.org.
