Harford County to Fly War of 1812 Flags
The involvement of Havre de Grace in the war prompted the county executive's order.

County Executive David Craig issued an order recently that Harford County will fly "War of 1812 flags" in some public spaces.

Craig stated that the War of 1812 flags will fly in the following Harford County locations through Dec. 24, 2014:

“The city of Havre de Grace was directly engaged in the war and was attacked by the British on May 3, 1813, resulting in much of the town being destroyed,” Craig said in his executive order.
In fact, this May the city of Havre de Grace will host a weekend filled with events to commemorate the war and its involvement.
“Due to Harford County’s long involvement in the War of 1812, the loss of lives and property, I believe it is only fitting that this year, 2013, should be celebrated as the bicentennial year to recognize this significant chapter in the history of our county, state and nation,” Craig said.
