Harford Wage Gains Rank High; O'Malley Eyes More Jobs

The statistics indicate Harford County workers saw healthy increases in pay wages in 2011.

And Gov. Martin O'Malley sees room for improvement.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Harford County ranks among the top 25 municipalities nationwide in wage increases.

The information posted on the Department of Labor website also stated: "Harford County recorded the fastest over-the-year wage growth among Maryland’s eight large counties and the third-fastest nationwide, rising 8.8 percent from the second quarter of 2010 to the second quarter of 2011."

Among a series of blog entries on the topic Wednesday, O'Malley suggested "BRAC-related safety and capacity improvements" as a "real project that would create jobs" in Harford County.

As for Cecil County, O'Malley recommended that jobs would be created by extending "the MARC Penn Line from to Elkton to Newark and Wilmington, DE."

Harford County jobs have gotten a boost from the influx of new workers and residents as part of the movement. The , but more employees of Aberdeen Proving Ground are anticipated in the next year or so.

O'Malley's suggestion for capacity improvements likely points to the theory that in the near future.
