Havre de Grace Artist Creates Dollhead Tree

The coronavirus pandemic has changed some traditions for Halloween, but this one in Havre de Grace lives on.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — One Havre de Grace woman has a unique attraction in her yard.

"I create a dollhead tree every October from discarded dolls that I either buy from thrift shops, garage sales or get via donations," Linnea Tober told Patch.

Tober said she started decorating the tree at her home on Green Street after she purchased a bunch of old dolls from a garage sale.

"I'm a big believer in reusing items in an imaginative way," said Tober, who runs the gallery Morph. She said she's always accepting more doll heads for those who would like to be part of the dollhead tree.

This year for Halloween, she plans to dress up as Wednesday Addams.

"I've never missed dressing up for Halloween ever!" said Tober. "Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, as I am a practicing Witch (4th generation, actually)."

While the dollhead tree and costume will continue, other Halloween happenings will be changing due to the pandemic.

"I normally have a bug pumpkin carving party, with anywhere from 15-40 people!" Tober said. "This is the first year I had to cancel in over 20 years. I will be carving a pumpkin on Halloween night, to put out for the ancestor spirits that will come to visit."

For the trick-or-treaters, the Havre de Grace resident said she will be giving out candy but it will be in a different form.

Because she has autoimmune conditions, Tober said she will be distributing the goodies from her front porch using a plastic tube as a "candy shoot."
