Havre de Grace Veterans Day Parade 2019 Celebrates Service
The Havre de Grace Veterans Day Parade was "a celebration of everything that is great about our country," the city said in a statement.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Joseph L. Davis Post 47 American Legion sponsored the Havre de Grace Veterans Day Parade Monday, which brought out crowds to celebrate the military. Students who had the day off of school for the holiday were among those marching.
Almost 100 students participated, according to the Havre de Grace High School Music Boosters.

Veterans, lawmakers, local organizations and residents also participated in the event, which kicked off at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 and traveled from Congress Avenue to Washington Street to Saint John Street. The parade traveled from Hutchins Park to the American Legion.
Afterward, the legion hosted a luncheon on Saint John Street for veterans and their families.

This marks the 100th anniversary of the Joseph L. Davis Post 47 American Legion, which was founded in August 1919 after World War I.
Leading the 2019 Veterans Day Parade was the post's Mike Bush, who served as grand marshal, The Aegis reported.
"This morning the City of Havre de Grace proudly hosted its first annual Veterans Day Parade organized by the Joseph L. Davis Post 47 American Legion. The parade, spanning through downtown, was a celebration of everything that is great about our country made possible by the endless sacrifices of our service men and women," according to a statement the city issued Monday night. "The City of Havre de Grace thanks our Veterans."
