HdG Mardi Gras Parade Continues Despite Rain

There were more than 1,400 people in attendance at the 2017 HdG Mardi Gras Parade, city official said.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Despite the fact that it rained on the parade in Havre de Grace Tuesday night, the city's tenth annual Mardi Gras celebration was a hit.

More than 1,400 people attended the event, according to Havre de Grace Digital Marketing Strategist Adam Rybczynski.

The parade started at 6:30 p.m. on Bourbon Street at Washington Street and continued to the American Legion on Saint John Street.

A host of local organizations coasted by on foot or in vehicles decorated with Mardi Gras masks for Fat Tuesday.

In addition to festive floats, there were several signs in tribute to Richard Holly, who recently passed away after teaching business at Havre de Grace High School for more than 40 years and serving as a pillar in the community, making events possible such as the Thanksgiving dinner for those in need.
