HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A member of the Havre de Grace Police Department was honored this week for saving a woman's life while he was on the way home from work. PFC Chad Smith noticed a crowd gathered around a car on the side of MD 43 in Baltimore County on April 27 and pulled over, where he used the automated external defibrillator he kept in his patrol vehicle to help a woman in cardiac arrest and called for medical assistance, according to The Aegis. At the Havre de Grace City Council meeting this week, Smith was presented with a life-saving award and thanked in person by the family.
