HdG Teen Indicted In Murder Of Maleigha Solonka

Police said that murder charges have been handed down in the case of a 15-year-old girl found deceased in Havre de Grace last year.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A teen has been indicted in the death of a girl in Havre de Grace last summer. The charges came more than a year after she was murdered.

Maleigha Solonka, 15, was found near a wooded area in the 400 block of Webb Lane. The Havre de Grace Police Department said she was located when officers were dispatched for a report of a body in the woods on Aug. 16, 2017.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide.

Naeshawn Jahiem-Troy Perry, 17, of the 1200 block of Battery Drive, was indicted on first and second-degree murder charges in connection with the death of the 15-year-old Edgewood girl, police said on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Police previously said her death was caused by asphyxiation.

Detectives from the Havre de Grace Police Department presented evidence to a grand jury that led to the indictment, police reported.

According to Fox 45, Perry and Solonka had at one point been dating.
