HdG Waterfront Festival 2021: Hours, Events, Parks

The Havre de Grace Waterfront Festival will bring a wave of visitors to Havre de Grace this weekend.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Waterfront Festival will bring food, drink, competition and entertainment to venues across the city this weekend.

Admission is free, and the festivities have expanded this year, growing from two to four parks. Courtesy shuttles will be provided between the parks, through downtown and to parking areas.

Here are the basics of the 2021 Waterfront Festival:

  • When: 2–7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21; and noon–5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22
  • Where: Concord Park, Hutchins Park, Lock House Museum, Moore Family Homestead
    • Concord Park will host Mermaid Cove at 352 Commerce Street. Mermaid meet-and-greets, splash golf, a beer garden and more will be offered. A youth fishing derby is set for 3–5 p.m. Saturday and noon–2 p.m. Sunday with trophies for 1st through 3rd place.
    • Hutchins Park will be the home of Seafood Cove, where food vendors and food trucks will be set up in the 100 block of Congress Avenue. Steamed crabs, axe throwing with Crabby Axe and a beer garden will be part of the festivities.
    • The Lock House grounds at 817 Conesteo Street will feature Pirate Cove, with pirates, bellydancers, a rum bar, lunch and dinner seatings and more.
    • The Moore Family Homestead will transform into a Kid Cove with dessert trucks, sand art, face painting, balloon artist and mini golf. Find it at 710 Market Street. Free bounce houses will be available Saturday, with $5 unicorn rides offered Sunday.

In addition, the Havre de Grace Opera House and State Theater will provide themed programming.

The Cultural Center at at the Opera House will have a live mermaid show and under-the-sea sing-along at noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $5 to $7. "Grace O'Malley: The Pirate Queen" will be performed from 7 to 8 p.m. at the opera house at 121 N. Union Ave. Tickets are $5. A free magic show will take place from 2 to 4 p.m.. A lecture on pirates is slated from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The State Theater is offering a show at 7 p.m. on Saturday.


Take the Havre de Grace crab soup challenge from noon–4 p.m. on Sunday at participating restaurants. It costs $10 to purchase a ballot, available at the Havre de Grace Visitor Center, 450 Pennington Ave, or at booths. Participants will get to vote for their favorite crab soup in town and be entered to win a $100 shopping spree in Havre de Grace.
