HHS Does It the Don Osman Way

Entrance to faculty parking lot is named for retired English teacher.

Don Osman taught generations of students at Havre de Grace High School and continues to impact the students as the leader of S.M.I.L.E.S.

This summer, Osman is stepping down from his post with S.M.I.L.E.S., the community service organization he founded at the school. He's also retiring from his post on the county's Board of Education.

But Osman will always be around Havre de Grace High School. Now, his name will be there permanently.

The sign was presented to Osman by Mayor Wayne Dougherty at some point in the past year after it was commissioned by Elaine Bennett, the longtime media specialist and S.M.I.L.E.S. co-chair. Bennett will be taking over the service organization, and Osman will remain as an assistant.
