Home Burglary Suspect Arrested Shortly After Incident: Police

A home burglary suspect was tracked down and arrested not long after police say he broke into a home but was deterred by a dog.

ABERDEEN, MD — The suspect wanted in a home burglary was tracked down and arrested shortly after the crime had happened, police say.

On Monday, Aberdeen police officers were called to a home located in the unit block of Brannan Road for a report of a burglary that had just happened. Officers arrived and cleared the residence, but the suspect wasn't around. The homeowner arrived shortly after and provided surveillance footage depicting a man wearing a red hoodie with a tan coat, black pants, a red bookbag and a blue backpack walk up to the home, authorities said.

The video surveillance showed the man opening the door, walking in the home, then leaving after a dog inside started barking. Officers were able to identify the suspect and started searching the area. They found the suspect, Courtney Lamont McCoy, 60, of Aberdeen, who was arrested with incident.
