Horse Barn Fire In Port Deposit Causes $500K In Damage: Officials
There were no horses injured in the barn fire, the deputy state fire marshal said. One firefighter received medical treatment.

PORT DEPOSIT, MD — There was $500,000 in damage after fire broke out at a horse farm in Cecil County, officials said. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the one-alarm blaze, which sent one person to the hospital.
Officials said an employee at Anchor & Hope Farm in Port Deposit discovered the fire at 12:26 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12.
Investigators determined the blaze began inside a horse stall at Anchor & Hope Farms, which is a Thoroughbred breeding facility located in the 100 block of Anchor Hope Lane.

About 50 firefighters worked for an hour and a half to contain the blaze that sent flames shooting from the 100-by-30-f00t barn, according to the fire marshal.
"All horses were safely evacuated," Senior Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire told Patch.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital for heat exhaustion, Alkire said. The firefighter was treated and released.
There was $400,000 in structural damage, while $100,000 in items within the barn were also lost in the blaze, according to the fire marshal.
The cause of the barn fire is under investigation, the Office of the State Fire Marshal reported Tuesday, pending further examination of the electrical wiring.
