Tidewater Drive House Fire Caused $30K in Damage: Officials

The fire marshal said family was being assisted by county following blaze.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal ruled a Thursday evening fire in Havre de Grace as accidental.

At 6:09 p.m. the fire began around a gas grill on the deck at a home in the 100 block of Tidewater Drive, according to the fire marshal.

Using portable fire extinguishers and a garden hose, the residents and neighbors tried to put out the fire on their own but could not, the fire marshal reported.

The cause of the blaze was a failure of the regulator/hose connecting to the propane tank, according to the report.

Approximately 50 firefighters from Susquehanna Hose, Aberdeen and Level responded, bringing the fire under control within 15 minutes, according to the report.

There was $25,000 in structural damage to the home, and $5,000 worth of items inside were lost, the report said.

The fire marshal said that Harford County’s disaster team was assisting the family in the aftermath of the fire.

Firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company were dispatched to a house fire in Havre de Grace Thursday evening.

At 6:10 p.m., crews responded to a residential fire in the 100 block of Tidewater Drive near Chapel Road, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association reported that firefighters remained at the scene, where the residence on Tidewater was still ablaze.
