Jumper Survives, Found Clinging to Tydings Bridge: Fire Officials

A person who jumped from the Tydings Bridge on Thursday was rescued by a fire boat, according to the Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company.

An individual who jumped from the Tydings Bridge on Thursday reportedly survived the fall.

At 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the bridge, where a person was said to have jumped into the Susquehanna River, more than 90 feet below.

The Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company responded with its fire boat to the bridge that connects Harford and Cecil counties along Interstate 95. With a Maryland State trooper aboard, the crew found the individual underneath the bridge holding onto a support, the fire company said.

They pulled the person to safety in their boat and took the individual to Harford County for medical treatment, according to Water Witch.

Once the boat dropped him off at the Havre de Grace City Yacht Basin, the man was transported to the National Guard facility on Old Bay Lane for medevac transport "alive and well," The Aegis reported; the newspaper said he went to a regional trauma center for help.
