Warriors Storylines

1. Win in the trenches. The Warriors were manhandled by a more physical Perryville line last week. Undersized, Havre de Grace will have to rely on its veteran linemen — namely Andy Meiselwitz, Tyler Coakley and Robbie Orzewicz — to fortify what has been a bland rushing attack thus far.

2. Establish the run. The Warriors churned out just 13 yards on 26 attempts last week. The longest gain for Havre de Grace was a 15-yard scamper from Cameron Doe. Negative yardage piled up on the Warriors. Getting Doe some room to run on sweeps, and using swing passes to stretch the defense might work to the Warriors advantage with a smaller offensive front.

3. Find No. 3 and No. 6. Regularly. Chris Askew has developed into the Warriors go-to receiver in his senior season, and the offensive leader hauled in 11 catches Monday for 132 yards and a touchdown. He has some big-play ability, too, with one play going for 46 yards. The bigger-play weapon is first-year slot receiver Justin Gosnell, who had three catches for 72 yards — one of them a swing pass he took 69 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown.

What They're Saying

The Aegis’ Inky Webb calls for a 16-14 Warriors win.

(Last week: Webb predicted a 28-12 Panthers victory.)

The Record’s Shad Roe predicts a Warriors win:

The defending 1A runnerup is not the team it was last season, barely getting past Elkton in week one, then losing the Susquehanna Bowl to Peryville on Monday. I think they'll get past Bo Manor though. The pick: Havre de Grace wins, 21-10.

(Last week: Roe predicted a 18-14 Perryville win.)

Patch Says

The Warriors had some issues with the running game Monday —starting it and stopping it. Havre de Grace gets back on the right side tonight, though. Warriors 20, Bo Manor 12.

(Last week: Patch predicted an 28-18 Perryville win.)
