Maryland Comptroller Visits Havre de Grace High School
Comptroller Peter Franchot scoped out the school as plans are underway for its replacement.

During a recent visit to Havre de Grace, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot presented a Comptroller’s Medallion to Havre de Grace Mayor Wayne Dougherty.
Dougherty received the recognition as a token for his longtime dedication to the community, according to the Office of the Comptroller. The Havre de Grace mayor has been in office since 2007 and is currently in his fourth term.
While in the city, Franchot stopped by Havre de Grace High School to see its existing conditions as plans are underway to replace the facility.

In the most recent public school construction program funding cycle, Franchot helped move the project forward by granting approval of state funds to plan for the new school.
State and local funds will help pay for the cost of the replacement school, which will be a combined middle and high school on the grounds of the current Havre de Grace Middle School. The state approved up to $14.63 million toward planning the new school, according to the Maryland Public School Construction Program.
