Police ID Driver, Passengers In Stolen Car Crash

Three people are in area hospitals and one is deceased from the crash in Harford County.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Police have identified the four people inside a car that crashed into a pole on US 40 in Havre de Grace Monday night following a protracted chase. Charges are pending in the case, according to officials.

Police said that a trooper from the North East barrack tried to stop the 2005 Subaru Outback at a traffic light in Elkton but the driver made a U-turn at the light and peeled off. Another officer attempted to make a stop, which was also ineffective.

Police said that authorities in Perryville used stop sticks at two locations — US 40 at Jackson Station Road and US 40 at MD 222 — to try to slow down the car.

According to officials, the vehicle crossed the Hatem Bridge on two flat tires before losing control in Harford County and crashing into a utility pole near the median of US 40 at Otsego Street.

Terrence Gibson Sr., 42, of Columbia, was pronounced deceased at Harford Memorial Hospital, police said. He had been driving the car, which was reported stolen on Jan. 12 to police in Baltimore, according to authorities.

Three other people were hospitalized with injuries.

Melissa Ann Williams, 30, of Middle River, was being treated at Christiana Hospital in Delaware after being injured as a front-seat passenger in the Subaru Outback, police said.

Joseph Taylor, 41, of Edgewood, was taken by a Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital for treatment.

Nicole Lashawn King, 42, of Baltimore, was taken by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for her injuries, police said. She and Taylor had benen in the back seat of the car.

Maryland State Police said that officials were continuing the investigation.
